Ant Control
Most ants are a nuisance. Carpenter ants damage wood. We identify which ones you have, find the nest and treat at the source.
Signs you may have an ant problem
- Trails of small ants along counters, baseboards or the foundation
- Little piles of soil in pavement cracks or along the driveway
- Large black or reddish-black ants indoors, especially at night
- Sawdust-like piles (frass) near baseboards, windowsills or under sinks
- Winged ants inside in spring, a sign a nest may already be in the house
- Faint rustling or crackling inside walls at night
How we handle it
- 01
Identify
Pavement and odorous house ants call for a different plan than carpenter ants, so we start by identifying the species and locating the nest.
- 02
Treat at the source
Targeted treatments with eco-friendly products reach the colony, not just the ants you can see.
- 03
Fix the conditions
Carpenter ants follow moisture. We point out leaks, damp wood and branches touching the house that invite them in.
- 04
Keep them out
Everyday ant species are covered by our quarterly and semi-annual general pest control plans.
Good to know
- Carpenter ants don’t eat wood like termites do. They tunnel through it to nest, which can damage studs, beams, window frames and subfloors.
- Carpenter ants are treated separately and aren’t included in general pest control plans.
- Keep firewood and mulch at least 20 feet from the house, trim branches touching the roof or siding, and repair leaky pipes and gutters.
